Do you deliver?
We deliver within a 15- 20km radius for orders exceeding R800 but can go a bit further depending on location. Since we are a home-based bakery and bake a lot on demand, orders are most of the time collected from our premises.
Are your cakes tastey?
Yes absolutely. We bake completely from scratch using genuine fresh ingredients to produce moist quality tasting cakes. Our recipes are oil based and therefore our cakes also last much longer up to 7 days as long as it is kept refrigerated.
Does LMB use any pre-mixes, artificial flavourings or imitation products in their goods?
We wouldn't dare! We are strong believers in receiving what you paid for. Our goods are made completely from scratch including our fillings, frostings and pastries using the finest and best quality of ingredients.
Do you make gluten-free, dairy-free, and eggless cakes?
At the moment we do not offer any of the above as we used dairy products and nuts in our baked goods most of the time.
How much are your cakes?
Our custom cakes range from R880 up, however actual prices are dependant on the design details, size and flavour of the cake. Once we have those specifics, we can generate some quote options for you.
How far in advance do I place my order?
Please note that to ensure the best quality of work, we only take on a limited number of orders per week. Therefore it is highly advisable to place your order as timely as possible at-least 10-14 days in advance where possible to avoid disspointment.
What are your payment terms?
A payment in full is required within 24 hours from date of invoice to hold reservation on your order. Should payment not be received during the 24 hours window your order would proceed an automatic cancellation and the date would then be availed to someone else.
What is your cancellation and refund policy?
Deposits are non-refundable even under the Global conditions of covid-19. In extreme circumstances like the event being cancelled due to sudden illness, death, accidents etc. we may be able to offer a full refund but this will only be at sole discretion of the owners.
Orders may be postponed as long as reasonable notice is given and we have not commenced the order.
Do you offer wedding consultation and cake tasting?
Wedding consultations are free and done by appointment only. Please email: inquire.mels@gmail.com to make an appointment with Mel. A cake-tasting box can be supplied by request and does come at an additional cost.
How can I take care of my cake once it is collected?
Once you have collected your cake, please inspect it to ensure it is correct and that the brief was met. The cake is to be transported on a flat surface in a cool area or under air-conditioning as the icing can melt as well as the décor on the cake. Do not place the cake on your lap or car seats. Cakes are delicate and fragile, so please handle with lots of love and care. Kindly ensure that your cake is kept refrigerated to keep its shape, freshness, and moisture. Only take out 3-2 hours ahead on the day of use. Keep your cake out of direct sunlight even when on display, also avoid placing the cake on any heat-defying appliances or areas. Please ensure that your cake is left out and brought to room temperature for at least 60 minutes before eating to develop the best texture and flavor (do not eat the cake cold and directly out of the fridge).
How long does it take for my inquiry to reach a response?
I try to be as responsive and as quick as I can but completing orders is a main priority, so my standard turn-around time for response is 5-8 business hours if not immediately.
What are your accepted methods of payment?
We accept EFT payments. Regrettably no cash or E-wallet will be accepted
